Contemporary Abstract Landscape Paintings

In this large panoramic format, a pearly mist rises diagonally, as if lifted by a breath, between earths of burnt umber, sienna and rust. Below, a white crest, part wave, part cloud, sets the movement in motion: matter leaves the ground and takes flight toward the light. It recalls the swirling vortices of light and vapour in J.M.W. Turner’s late paintings, where sea, sky and air finally merge. Taking Flight captures that moment of pure momentum, when what was heavy becomes weightless.
