A sky of gold and amber streaked with bluish veils, above a moorland dotted with orange flowers. The light seems to arise from colour itself, as in Turner’s colour beginnings, studies in which he sought atmosphere before form. Orange ochres, Naples yellow, cerulean blues and burnt umbers.
